Accredited Sleep Technologist Training (A•STEP)
A-STEP is a two-step program that begins with an 80-hour didactic course (STEP
1) through and A-STEP Provider. STEP 2 includes 18 months of on-the-job training
provided by each sleep tech’s employer and supplemented by an e-learning program
though the AASM Web site.
An AASM accredited sleep center or affiliated post-secondary school may pursue
an A-STEP Provider status, regardless of experience level with formal education
or training programs. By way of the application process, all sleep centers and
schools are offered the tools to develop a STEP 1 offering that meets the A-STEP
Standards of Accreditation.
