A-STEP is a two-step program that begins with an 80-hour didactic course STEP
1 (Introductory Course) through an A-STEP Provider. STEP 2 is Self
Study Modulesprovided through the AASM.
In order to further your career and be able to
sit for the BRPT exam, applicants will need to have 9 months of on
the job training through a Sleep Disorders Center.
An AASM accredited sleep center or affiliated post-secondary school may pursue
an A-STEP Provider status, regardless of experience level with formal education
or training programs. By way of the application process, all sleep centers and
schools are offered the tools to develop a STEP 1 offering that meets the A-STEP
Standards of Accreditation.
